NEX Aero GmbH Office, NEX Aero GmbH HQ
Part-time
Working Student
About the role
As a Working Student - Flight Dynamics & Control, you will support the development and validation of advanced control laws and high-fidelity simulation models for UAV platforms. Working closely with flight control, systems and software engineers, you will contribute to control system integration and flight test activities, gaining hands-on experience from concepts through real-world validation.
Your responsibilities
- Support the design, simulation and validation of flight dynamics models and control laws for aerospace and UAV systems
- Assist in the development and testing of control algorithms, including stability augmentation, guidance and control allocation strategies
- Contribute to trajectory generation and analysis for mission planning and flight envelope studies
- Develop and maintain models and simulations in MATLAB/Simulink for flight dynamics, control systems and system integration
- Support integration of control algorithms into real-time environments, including C/C++ implementations where required
- Assist in system-level testing and validation, including SIL/HiL setups and analysis of simulation and test data
- Support preparation and execution of flight test activities, including data analysis and model validation against flight data.
- Document models, assumptions and results to support development, validation and knowledge transfer
Your profile
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Control Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
- Strong interest in flight dynamics, control systems and aerospace applications
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink for modeling, simulation and control design
- Good understanding of control theory and flight mechanics
- Initial programming experience in C/C++ or willingness to learn and apply it in embedded or simulation contexts
- Familiarity with trajectory generation, control allocation or multivariable control concepts is a plus
- Experience with real-time simulation platforms (e.g., Speedgoat) is advantageous but not required
- Independent, proactive, and technically curious, comfortable navigating ambiguity and taking ownership of complex problems
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English
