Head of Communications & PR

NEX Aero GmbH Office
Full or part-time
Permanent employee

About the role

As Head of Communications & PR, you will take full ownership of how NEX Aero communicates — from daily LinkedIn posts to long-lead media strategies, from website copy to press releases for funding rounds and product milestones. You will work directly with the CEO and leadership team to translate a complex technical story into compelling, credible narratives for investors, industry partners, potential customers, and future employees.
This is a hands-on role. You will write, publish, and distribute content yourself — while building the processes and partner relationships that allow communications to scale with the company.

Your responsibilities

Digital Presence & Content

  • Own the NEX Aero website end-to-end: content, structure, messaging, and continuous updates — in close collaboration with external web developers.
  • Build and execute the LinkedIn strategy: editorial calendar, post creation, performance tracking, and community engagement.
  • Manage all other digital and social channels (Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube as appropriate) with a consistent brand voice.
  • Produce long-form content: articles, thought leadership pieces, newsroom updates, and investor-facing announcements.
  • Develop and maintain a visual communication standard together with our design partners — ensuring imagery, video, and graphics reflect the NEX Aero brand accurately.

Public Relations & Media

  • Develop and execute the PR strategy for NEX Aero — identifying the right publications, journalists, and moments to build earned media coverage.
  • Write and distribute press releases for key milestones: funding rounds, product announcements, partnerships, and events.
  • Build and maintain a network of relevant media contacts across aerospace, logistics, energy, and technology press in DACH and internationally.
  • Prepare leadership for media interactions: messaging frameworks, Q&A preparation, and spokesperson coaching.
  • Monitor media landscape and flag relevant developments, competitor coverage, and opportunities for proactive outreach.

Events & Industry Presence

  • Manage NEX Aero's presence at industry events, conferences, and trade fairs — including content preparation, speaker submissions, and follow-up communication.
  • Coordinate with the leadership team on conference appearances, panel discussions, and keynote opportunities.
  • Support the development of investor decks, partner presentations, and external-facing materials — in close collaboration with CEO and CPO.

Internal Alignment & Brand Governance

  • Establish and maintain clear brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all external touchpoints.
  • Brief and manage external agencies, freelancers, and creative partners as needed.
  • Report on communications KPIs regularly to leadership — reach, engagement, media coverage, and sentiment.

Your profile

Must-Have

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, PR, or content strategy — ideally with a mix of agency and in-house roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain technically complex topics clearly and compellingly to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong writing skills in both German and English — you produce publication-ready copy directly.
  • Proven track record of building media relationships and generating earned coverage in relevant publications.
  • Experience managing digital channels (LinkedIn in particular) with a data-driven approach to content performance.
  • High degree of autonomy: comfortable operating without a large team, setting your own priorities, and making decisions independently.

Strongly Preferred

  • Background in aerospace, aviation, deep tech, industrial technology, energy, or logistics — or demonstrated appetite to immerse yourself in technical domains.
  • Experience with startup communications: managing narrative during fast-moving phases, funding announcements, and product pivots.
  • Existing network with relevant journalists, editors, or influencers in the aerospace, UAV, or industrial tech space.
  • Experience briefing and preparing C-level executives for media and investor interactions.
